History of "The Sonthalia Group": -
Late Satyadeo Sonthalia came to Kolkata from far away Rajasthan. A young man from a business background, he came to live with his grandfather, whose principal business was trading in commodities.

However, after completing his studies, Late Satyadeo Sonthalia embarked on an independent business plan. He laid the foundation of "The Sonthalia Group" by entering the manufacturing sector. It was the year 1963, when steel was still under the 'license & control' regime. Despite the odds, he imported plant and machinery for the manufacture of iron and steel products to successfully implement his dream project under the name "ENFIELD".

Late Satyadeo Sonthalia departed for his heavenly abode in 2002 leaving behind memories & inspirations for the growth of "The Sonthalia Group", founded by him.

The two sons of late Satyadeo Sonthalia, Mr. Sudesh Sonthalia and Mr. Rajesh Sonthalia, joined the family business in 1980. Initially the brothers started at the production shop floor and then moved on to gain experience in domestic trading of steel products and production of value added steel products like fasteners, forgings, etc.

In the year 1991 the Indian government went in for economic reforms and liberalization policy adopted under the leadership of late Prime Minister Narsimha Rao & then Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. As a result Indian industries got the access to the international market & global economy. As the process of integration with the global economy accelerated, the Sonthalia brothers, confident of their business acumen and vision, and sensing the shift of economical winds, decided to start an international trading division. Their willingness to take on challenges and see them through was the reason that inspired them to grow.

Buoyed by the success of the international trading division, the brothers took their next bold step in 1998. They forayed into the manufacturing of Readymade Garments, Gems & Jewellery, Plastic agglomerates and granules from plastic scrap. & other value added products. This was in keeping with a subject close to their hearts- ecology and the vision of a greener future.

Today both the brothers are a famous name in both Indian and International business circles. Their successes have won them many awards and accolades from the business fraternity.

Our Group Companies have received The Top Exporter Award consecutively for the last three years from Mr. Kamalnath (Honorable Minister of Commerce, Govt. of India.)

Mr. Sudesh Sonthalia is the Chairman of The Sonthalia Group.

Mr. Rajesh Sonthalia is the Vice-Chairman & CEO of The Sonthalia Group.

I have always believed that success follows those who dare to dream big and labour hard to make dreams come true. This principle I have followed very religiously and it has contributed to the success my Group has achieved.
